Sleep is underrated, and even if it weren't, you still don't get enough of it. One way to get more and be more efficient is to prepare yourself for a five-minute routine to get yourself out the door each morning. It requires some preparation the night before, but if you aren't a morning person (and let's face it, most of us aren't), you won't mind trading a little bit of your night to avoid tasks the following morning.
Give up shaving (men only, obviously). You look better with a beard anyway (everyone else thinks so). Start this process over a long weekend so you don't show up on Monday with stubble, but rather a good start to a healthy beard.
Lay out your toiletries for the next day. This means setting your toothbrush next to your toothpaste, and your shampoo next to the shower. Set out your towel.
Give up long hair. Short hair dries much faster and doesn't take as long to wash. Give it up and make the process streamlined.
Set out your clothes in the order you put them on the night before. Roughly, this should be underwear, socks, shirt, pants, belt, tie (men only, obviously), jacket, and shoes. Either lay them in layers on top of one another (first item on top) or in a row. You don't want to have to think about these items as you put them on.
Set out your breakfast. Here it is: a granola bar and a banana. You can even put the granola bar in your jacket pocket if you are feeling daring.
Pack your lunch and put it in the fridge. If you like lettuce on your sandwich or other things that need to be cut fresh each morning -- too bad. Sacrifice for speed is the name of the game here.
