There are several ways to keep up to speed with the economy. I will share with you some of the ways that I get the latest and most reliable information on the real economy that is taking place at the moment.
Read books. Go to the bookstore, and just pick out books that others highly recomend. Look through the business, economics section of the bookstore and read up on books that deal with what is going on in current events. There are so many perspectives on what is going on, that once again I urge you to use your own indpedent mind, to go through your own learning process.
Youtube. Now I know this may be controversial, but there are some really good videos on what is going on in worldly economics, started by everyday people like you and me. Spend some time doing research on a few of the channels on Youtube that post on a regular basis. Once again use your own logic and independent mind to discern fact from fiction. I actually like watching Youtube videos for my news more than regular television, because many times the Youtube videos are more authentic, real and uncut. Whereas mainstream news is more the water down version of what's really going on.
Bloomberg.com I suggest you get familar with bloomberg.com this site has loads of information and they post regularly and most of the information they give out can give you a wide view of what is going on. Don't believe everything it says but use your own logic as well. It's a good site that gives you an overview of what the markets are doing.
