Teletrack is a consumer credit reporting firm located in Norcross, Georgia. The company, which was founded in 1989, is a subsidiary of First Advantage, a credit information conglomerate based in Poway, California. Both First Advantage and Teletrack operate under the governance of the First American Corp., based in Santa Ana, California.
- Like all credit bureaus based in the United States, Teletrack operates under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, a federal law enacted in 1970 that legislates the collection and use of credit information.
- According to its website, Teletrack obtains the credit information on consumers through "Teletrack businesses." These financiers include payday loan firms, furniture companies, high-risk consumer finance companies, automotive financing firms, cable television companies, credit card companies, banks and credit unions. Teletrack also obtains consumer information from public court records.
- Teletrack does not approve or deny a consumer's credit for making purchases. Alternatively, Teletrack provides its customers with an analysis of a consumer's credit history based on the information it acquires from its source businesses. The client then chooses to approve or deny credit based on this information. In addition to credit risk assessment, Teletrack also assists its clients in fraud detection, identify verification and skip tracing.
- Teletrack customers include landlords and mortgage brokers, loan underwriters, debt buyers, collection agencies, online lenders and telecom companies.
- In October 2009, Teletrack unveiled its latest service, RevealCheck. This service provides retailers with instant access to a customer's check-cashing history and identity risk information to ensure the purchaser has an upstanding check history and is not submitting a check payment under a false identity.
- Teletrack offers consumers the ability to opt in or out of inclusion to lists provided to its customers. Opting to be on or removed these lists does not affect a consumer's ability to apply for or obtain credit.
- Consumers can consult Teletrack personally for more information regarding specific communication designed to help ensure their financial credibility and identity have not been compromised. Consumers should also understand that opting out of Telemark's list may reduce unwanted credit offers.
