The long years of waiting are over… The Avatar plug-in is ready…
Basically this plug-in enables registered users to upload an avatar and have it display next to posts and coments…
To use it: Log into the site… This will take you to your profile page, or click the "My Profile" link down there on the right… In your profile view click "My Avatar" across the top, browse for a file (only JPG, GIF and PNG supported at the moment, and animated GIFs won't work just yet either) then click "Update Profile"… That's it… If you don't see the change right away go back to the site and hit F5 (or whatever refresh is in your browser of choice)…To use the plug-in on your own Word Press site (only tested on WP 2.0) download and unzip this file to you plugins folder and create an avatars folder under wp-content and give everyone write permissions… Use the cmd_show_avatar() command where you want the avatar to display…
Please note: You need to be running the GD Libraries for the plug-in to work…
The command must be used within the main Loop or a comment loop… This generates code in the form<img src=" http://your-blog-location/wp-content/avatars/userID.jpg" alt="username" class="cmd-avatar" />
…
From the admin side of things users will now have a "My Avatar" menu in the Admin Control Panel which they can use to upload their avatar… To set the width, height and maximum size you need to edit the relevant lines at the start of the plugin PHP file (it's self-explainitory when you get in there)… By default the image will be resized to 40×40pixels and can be no larger than 50kb… The user selects a file from their local machine which is then resized and converted to a JPEG image with the name being changed to their WordPress UserID… Obviously this means animating GIFs won't work, but that's something to work on in another version (it's nice to have something to look forward to, isn't it??)… This means that the avatars folder you create (under wp-content) needs to be writable… It also needs to have indexes turned on to be able to find the files when it comes to displaying them… To that end I recommend you stick a blank index.html file in this folder…
Spladoosh!! Any questions mail me…
CMD Avatars,本地的头像支持,不用依附Gravatars 那样的服务,这个插件使注册用户可以自己上传头像用于个性化。
