Many of us are self-employed in this day and age. Whether we are part-time or full-time we all are making extra money doing different things, from crafting to selling merchandise. Marketing and getting the word out is necessary to be successful and setting up a booth is another way of marketing that can let people know all about you. Here's is how you set up a successful booth.
Stand near the entrance of your booth, don't just sit there like you are in an office. You want to be eye to eye with your customers. Be laid back, ask questions and get your customer to ask you questions back. Think of questions before hand that you can ask people as they come to your booth.
Two tables should do it. One for display and another for sign up. Decide what you will be putting on your tables. You can display your merchandise, samples of your business, a TV or computer with a slide show or a interactive display. The other table keep your flyers, business cards and information about your business.
Have gimmick that will bring in the customers. In this booth, a TV with Guitar Hero was bringing in the kids, while business owners talked to the parents. Come up with something that will help draw customers in, whether it's a raffle drawing or a video game powered by a generator, it will help keep your booth filled with potential customers.
Although a canopy is not necessary it is an expense that will be worth it. Not only does it shade you from the sun, it gives you a place to put up signs. You can hang signs from the poles inside your booth or add poles to the top of your booth and post a sign. You can add balloons and flags to bring attention to you business or a big sign yellow sign, like in the picture.
