Many people wait til a life changing event to make a decision! "Survive" cancer or some other life changing event to make that decision. WHY Wait?
An Example!
A while ago I was told about a guy I met once at a business meeting. He had come into our area of South Dorset, UK as a video producer from London. He and his wife made a trip to a local bakery just for a day out. They watched the process and totally enjoyed their visit. But something strange happened in their minds! They somehow realised that this was what they had been looking for! They wanted to try their hands at baking bread.
The husband actually asked to work in the evenings free of charge if they taught him how to bake bread.
This couple are now in Canada, I hear, and have their own bakery with a lifestyle they dreamed of.
Make a Plan!
Yes - make the plan!! How do we make the plan? Good question. I think it's a part of the decision that is possibly one of the trickiest because many people haven't a clue how to start. That doesn't actually need to matter I believe, because if the desire and goal are strong enough the way will become clear! When the student is ready the teacher will appear is a very strong statement, but SO true, I believe. Focus on the goal and a way will become clear. I really DO believe that when the time is right the way will become clear and a plan will be made because the focus is there and the belief is there that the plan will become a reality.
So - whatever this little article may or may not stir in your gut - if you have a dream, Go For It!
I never realised that I had done just such a thing!! Some years ago I started a band with some pals. I had just left a relationship where this was not considered to be a particularly good idea! I thought "If I don't do it now I never will!" That was 15 years ago and that band is still going out. It may not be as often as it used to be, but I am also in another band that goes out nearly every week, once or twice each week.
That may be small beer to some people but to me at the time I just did it!
Since then we have had several areas in our lives where we have "just done it" and it has worked very well.
NOW I am working on the next thing.....and lovin' it!!
So - Get Out There and DO IT!!
Why Wait?
Many times I walk down the street and hear people saying how so-and-so has had this or that happen. The number of times we also hear "I've just had an operation on....", "He's doing ok, but he's been very poorly"...Is it an age thing that we start to hear more and more? Or is it just that people are getting on in years and feeling their OWN "mortality"?
"Most men lead lives of quiet desperation and go to the grave with the song still in them." (That is quote from, I believe, Henry David Thoreau 12 July 1817 – 6 May 1862. My apologies if that is wrong...I hope not)
Why should this be? Life is to be had and lived. People who want to start to make a different path in life really only have to make the decision to DO IT! Set the goal, write it down and tell someone that they are going to do it. THAT part might seem strange. But it is, I believe, a crucial element because it makes the goal real.
Ok - so we have decided not to wait!
