Travel mugs are cups with sealed lids that can be used to safely carry hot or cold beverages. There are numerous websites that allow you to design and personalize your own mugs, and the mugs also can make a terrific gift.
Cafe Press instructions:
Go to the main page (www.cafepress.com). Click on "Make Custom T Shirts and More" (upper right corner). Scroll down and Click on "Ceramic Travel Mug." Click on "Create It." Under "Design Your Product," browse for an image from your computer to upload. Click on "Add and Review." From here you can "Review and Order," "Save for Later" or click on "Additional Help." Cost is $20.99.
The two most popular sites to upload your own text and images are CafePress.com and Zazzle.com. Each has its own benefits, depending on your preferences.
CafePress.com cups are tapered with the widest part at the top, ceramic and have gasket-sealed lids.
Zazzle.com cups are narrow at the bottom, wide the rest of the way up, made of stainless steel and have handles.
Both are spill-proof and hand-wash only. Both cost approximately the same.
Zazzle instructions:
Go to main page (www.zazzle.com). Click on "Create." Scroll down on left to "Travel Mugs." On the right, click on "Create a Mug." Click on "Customize It." Follow directions to upload an image, if desired. If you upload an image, note that you have many options to change the size and direction of it. If you want, click on "Add Text." Note that you can also modify the font, size, color and direction of the text. Click on "Add to Cart" and you're ready to purchase for $20.95.
There are two types of travel mugs that can be personalized. The first comes from sites where you can upload your own pictures and graphics and/or text. The other sites sell mugs with removable inserts, which are put back inside the cup behind a clear plastic covering once designs have been placed on them. The former is more professional-looking, while the latter is more personal.

Oriental Trading is economical. A set of six design-your-own mugs can be purchased for only $14.99. The Sophisticated Stitcher is far more expensive, one cup for $6.25 or a set of 12 for $68.74. This also requires embroidery skills.
