A women's networking leads group can be a great way to spread the word about your business and get new clients, but it can be hard to find a networking leads group to join, especially if those in your area aren't accepting new members in your industry. If you find yourself in that boat, chances are there are others out there who, like you, want the benefits of a women's networking leads group. Why not start your own? That way, you can control the rules and basic operation of the group while still reaping the benefits of regular networking.
Figure the fees. Will you charge people a joining fee as many networking leads groups do? Will there be quarterly or annual dues to renew their membership? What will the dues be used for? (Hint: Some networking leads groups use their membership fees for training seminars and other events that are helpful for members.) Decide on an amount now, and appoint someone to collect, deposit, and track the funds.
Set a schedule to meet. Try to set a schedule that meets often enough to get results, but isn't so often that it becomes an annoyance to members. Once or twice a month should be more than enough. Ask your group what works best for them and go from there.
Decide on a meeting space. One simple and (typically) free method is to use the back room of a restaurant as your meeting space. Let members order food if they wish, but make it clear that the cost of food isn't included in the membership fees (unless, of course, it is), so they'll have to pay for their own meals.
Find at least two or three members to kick-off your new networking leads group. Let them take an active role in creating the networking leads group to foster a sense of loyalty and ownership in your members. Encourage them to work hard to recruit others.
