Custom glass shower enclosures have been popular for years in Europe, and they are becoming big business here in the states. Calculating the price, however can be very confusing. Fortunately there is a software program called ShowerPricer™ that takes a lot of the guess work out of it.
Glass options. Most all glass showers are made with 3/8 or ½ inch tempered glass. In addition to clear, you can also get the glass in tinted or obscured glass. Ask you glass supplier what is available. You will need current square foot prices as well as glass fabrication (holes, pivot notches, glass polishing) pricing.
Mounting options. Shower doors can be hung on wall hinges, or with pivots. Fixed panels can be mounted with clips or channel. You may need a header as well. All of these options are very important to create an accurate shower quote.
Choose the hardware. You should stick to a manufacturer who stocks a variety of finishes. Ask your glass supplier/fabricator if you can't find one. They should have hinge notch templates, making ordering easier.
Get your configuration. ShowerPricer™ includes many common configurations including door only, door and fixed panel, kneewall configurations, etc.
Use ShowerPricer™ to calcuate the price. Be sure to change the pricing for glass, hardware and fabricastion based on your pricing.
