Garage liability insurance coverage is necessary for Texas business owners who work on other people's motor vehicles, store the property of others or sell cars. It is usually purchased in addition to a commercial liability policy.
- Liability claims can range from scratches to a customer's car to a roof collapse that destroys several cars. Such a loss would be very damaging to a business owner. With garage liability coverage, your losses can be substantially minimized.
- Liability insurance for this type of policy covers damage to or theft of other's property in your care, custody and control. Specified peril coverage can be added to cover fire and lightning.
- Not covered under this type of policy are vehicles owned and used by the business or other coverages named in a general liability policy. Exclusions can also include employee theft, material warranty and damaged auto parts.
- This applies to repair shops, service stations, storage facilities, parking lots, delivery or towing businesses and valet services.
- If you have more than one business location, be sure to list each location on your policy. Note that business owners' commercial general liability coverage does not afford the same coverages as garage keepers' insurance, and this policy should be purchased separately.
