Dry cleaning has been around for over 100 years, when merchants began using gasoline-based solvents to clean textiles and garments. However the industry is now being forced to change the way it does business due to environmental regulations on dry cleaning. Over the next 20 years, it will change even more, as the main solvent now used will most likely be phased out due to the environmental hazards of dry cleaning.
