So you need to send a fax right now and you don't have a fax machine. Not a problem. Perhaps you are job hunting and need to send a resume by fax or you are buying a house and need to fax some documents. Whatever the reason, you need to send that fax right away and do not have time to go to Kinkos or the UPS store. You have different options depending on your situation and equipment (mostly a scanner). If the document you are sending is something like a resume that is saved on your computer then you do not need the scanner. If the documents you need to fax are in paper form, then you will need to scan the documents and save them in a .pdf format. Once you have the documents scanned or saved to a computer connected to the Internet you will have several options available to you. Since you will be faxing through the Internet you do not need a fax machine or a phone line.
Then we have the completely free services. There are 3 truly free Internet faxing services. The links are in the resources section. Including an advertisement on the fax cover sheet pays for these services. Some have page restrictions too. These services are ideal for the person who does not care that there is an ad on the front cover page.
There are pay per use or pay per fax services that do not require you to sign up for a service. You pay per page sent. These services are great for people who want to convey a professional look without having to sign up for a service. This is a great option for the small businessperson who is on the road and may have to send the occasional fax.
One option is to take advantage of the free trials available all over the internet. Almost all Internet based fax sites offer free trials and most do not require you to sign a contract. Careful some services do charge an activation fee and some will require a credit card. If they ask you for a credit card it is likely that they will automatically renew your free trial into a paid trial. You will need to cancel your subscription before the free trial period ends.
