Computer printers were originally built to perform long, heavy printing jobs, and their initial purpose has not changed much since conception. Printers perform tasks after receiving signals from their chip, but while they react according to the tasks that they have received, there are times when they display error messages such as "out of ink" even if there is still ink in the cartridge. This is a problem which is caused by the printer chip, and it can be resolved by utilizing a chip resetter.
- Chip resetters counteract undesirable actions made by the cartridge chip while a print job is taking place. They reduce and prevent further interruptions from taking place while printing, and they allow cartridges to be refilled and recognized in the event that they run out of ink. Through chip resetters, printer operations are optimized, eliminating the unnecessary waste of ink and paper due to printer chip issues.
- Chip resetters function by overriding the actions of the printer chip and, in turn, prevent delays such as the printer stopping in the midst of printing. Chip resetters also allow printers to recognize the presence of a new or refilled cartridge. Printers initially required cartridges to be replaced in the event that they ran out of ink. These cartridges can now be refilled at a more cost efficient price, and be fully recognized as a full ink cartridge by the printer thanks to the chip resetter.
- There are several different types of chip resetters, differing based on the printer brand and model. Epson printers are equipped with a universal resetter that can be used for all printer types, among them are the SK168 and YXD268.
- Chip resetters are placed at the resetter base, found in the line of the ink cartridges. The resetter pins stand against the chip and touch the cartridge for a few seconds when necessary, which then causes the chip's LED indicator to blink. The resetter's LED indicator, meanwhile, turns on and blinks. This indicates that the chip on the cartridge has been successfully reset.
- If you don't find the LED indicator blinking even though the chip resetter and cartridge are standing against each other, it means that the cartridge chip and the resetter do not have contact. This can be fixed by placing the resetter against the cartridge once again and pressing both parts firmly together to create better contact. If you still don't find the LED blinking, it means that the resetter is not compatible with the cartridge chip.
