How to Clean Melamine Board

Melamine board, also known as melamine resin, is a heavy weight plastic that is used in the manufacture of white boards. To create the whiteboard surface, the melamine is sprayed with a clear coat that can be used as a writing surface. The melamine board needs to be cleaned regularly to maintain the quality of the clear coat writing surface.

Apply nail polish remover to a cotton ball and rub across the melamine board to remove the ghost writing. Keep rubbing until the ghost writing is removed. Use a dry paper towel to remove any remaining residue.

Apply a small amount of isopropyl alcohol to the melamine board and spread it over the ghost writing with a paper towel. Keep wiping until the ghost writing is removed. Wipe any remaining isopropyl alcohol with a clean paper towel.

Spray a stain remover over the melamine board and let it sit for five to 10 minutes. Wipe the ghost writing away with a paper cloth. Repeat if necessary.

Use toothpaste to remove ghost writing left behind on the board. The faint writing that is left behind on the melamine board after you wipe away the ink is referred to as ghost writing. A small amount of toothpaste on a washcloth will help to remove it. Use a damp paper towel to remove any residual toothpaste, and then wipe the board dry with another paper towel.

Purchase a white board cleaner. If none of the common household product mentioned above are successful in removing the ghost writing, you may need to purchase a white board cleaner. The white board cleaner is sprayed onto the melamine board and then wiped off with a clean cloth.
